We LOVE Dad Kit - Version #2

Good Morning! As Heidi mentioned yesterday we had quite a productive day and just ran with the idea of a Father's Day Book template that would highlight the "reasons" we love him and we all three had so much fun doing it.

Here are a few up close photos of my project:

As you can see I have changed up my color scheme using a fresh green and turquoise theme and used lots of transparency which is one of my favorite mediums to print on. So many people have emailed and said they can't get the hang of it or are scared to try. As long as you have the correct type of transparency for your printer type it is perfectly safe and you will love the results! Try it...you won't be sorry! (I did post about printing on transparencies on my blog a few weeks ago....you can read all about it here if you want more info about mediums to print on.)

 

I chose a polka dot clear sheet by Creative Imaginations for my cover. It is a ridgid plastic and is perfect for using as the covers of mini books as well as cards. I then mounted my cover artisan label that is the "cover" template in your kit that I printed out on a polka dot paper by GCD studios.

I then started printing all of my pages trying to decide how many numbers I would include in my book as well as quote pages. I chose 5 just as Heidi did since we will have four children and then I wanted to include a page and note myself. I also wanted to use all of the quote pages on different materials to really mix the book up. Once I had everything printed out, I started the assembly process. I mounted my one on corrugated cardboard to really give it some dimension.

Once my cover was finished I printed one of the quote pages on transparency and then added my number 1, I will go back and add journaling and notes from the kids on each of the numbers. I also added a photo of each child with their Dad.

I covered the back side with a ledger paper by October Afternoon so that it would be easier to write notes on.

Page 2 I have used more patterened paper by GCD studios and one of my faves Bazzill Dotted Swiss Cardstock in this and this trio pack. Love this color combo. I loved it so much you will see it again very soon in my Magnet Board project starting on Monday. lol

More paper from October Afternoon and My Minds Eye. On some of the numbers I just adhered them down directly over the quote page and photo (or will go back and add photo strips later). Not every number has to be mounted on cardboard. I actually only did that to my first one.

For my back cover I used the same Creative Imagination clear polka dot sheet and added a photo of my husband and backed it with more patterned paper. I added cream 7Gypsies Book rings and had a super cute project when I was finished. The kids are excited that they get to participate in the creative process for this gift for Daddy! We have more touches we will add to it but I wanted you to see what I started with.

I would love to see what you create using the template. The great thing about it is that it does not have to be for Father's Day...it could be Birthday or really any theme you want it to be....it's just all about Dad.
